File extension setting

Hi, I would like to know is there anyway to set up or change my file extension when I render.

For example, if I want my renders to have "L_01_0015.tga" How should I make my render to have four digit numbers right before ".tga"
I know by default, it creates "L_01_1.tga" but instead of one digit number, I would like to have four digit numbers on my file extension. I tried to "L_01_####.tga" but it renders as "L_01_####1.tga"
